The
Top 10 Ways
Not to Get a Traffic Ticket
1.
Have a clean driving record. People without previous violations
are less likely to get a ticket.
2.
Pull right over. Don't make them chase you; chances are you
know when you are going to be pulled over. Pull over as soon as
the lights go on.
3.
Stay in your car. Stay in your car unless you're asked to get
out. Getting out of your car is a sign of aggression to a police
office.
4.
Keep your hands still and in sight. Keeping both of your hand
up high on your steering wheel when the officer approaches your
car helps put him or her at ease, and shows them that you respect
the job they are doing. Remember that every time they approach a
car it is a potentially dangerous situation for them.
5.
Be courteous. The officer is likely to treat you with courtesy,
you should do the same. Speak clearly, address him or her as sir/maam
or officer. Keep a good attitude, not a cocky or negative one. After
all, it's not their fault you got pulled over.
6.
Move slowly. When you are asked for any paperwork, try and
keep your hands in plain sight and reach slowly; again this helps
puts the officer at ease.
7.
Keep it Legal. Make sure your cars registration, inspection
etc. are current.
8.
Cut the Bull. Cops hear the same excuses a hundred times
a day. Don't start off buy offering excuses. Just answer the officers
questions. Try being honest and offering an apology. 'I realize
I was speeding officer. I apologize; I'll pay more attention in
the future.'
9.
Don't have a radar detector on your dash. Nuff said.
10.
Drive reasonably. Cops are people too. If you roll thru a
stop sign or creep over the speed limit, that's one thing; but if
your driving like an @$$¸©!·, you probably deserve a ticket.
